Berlin, July 25 (IANS): Former German international footballer Kevin Kuranyi on Saturday joined Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim.

The 33-year-old striker, who has played for Russian club FC Dinamo Moskva since July 2010, has penned a one-year deal that keeps him in Hoffenheim until June 2016, reports Xinhua.

"After five years in Russia I am highly motivated to prove myself again in the Bundesliga. Germany is a big challenge for me which I will face with enthusiasm," Kuranyi said.

Kuranyi is a familiar face in the Bundesliga as he has already played for VfB Stuttgart (2001-2004) scoring 40 goals and for FC Schalke (2005-2010) scoring 71 goals.

"The entire team will benefit on and off the pitch from his many years of experience at the highest level in professional soccer," Hoffenheim director of professional football Alexander Rosen said.

Kuranyi made 261 Bundesliga appearances overall and scored 111 goals. He was also part of Germany's national squad from 2003 until 2008 but was banned by head coach Joachim Loew due to an incident in 2008. However, he scored 19 goals in 52 matches for Germany.

Hoffenheim's new arrival will replace striker Sven Schipplock who joined Hamburg recently.

Hoffenheim face Bayer Leverkusen in the first round of Bundesliga on August 15.
