Mangalore, May 28: The much-awaited Nano Park will be set up in UAS Campus at Bangalore shortly. 

This was announced by minister for small savings and lotteries Ramachandra Gowda while speaking to the press persons here on Sunday May 27.

He further said that union minister of state for science and technology Kapil Sibal has assured full support and release of Rs 250 crore for setting up the Nano Park. Two regional science centres including one in Pilikula Nisargadhama here have also been sanctioned, he said.

Meawhile he assured that those who lose jobs following the ban of lotteries in the state will be rehabilitated under the Suvarna Kayaka scheme. Elaborating on the scheme he said that those who are eligible to claim the benefits of the scheme or their dependents will be provided training in any vocation and will be paid Rs 1,500 per month during the course of the training.

So far, the ministry has received 15 applications from those seeking vocational training under the scheme, he said.

Speaking on the need for banning lotteries, he said that the government had time and again appealed to the lottery industry to regulate the business but the appeals were not complied with forcing the imposition of the ban.

Moreover, the annual revenue by sale of lottery tickets was negligible in comparison to the annual state budget, he said.
