Hundreds of fans welcome Atletico Madrid to China

Shanghai, Aug 3 (IANS): Some 400 fans welcomed Atletico Madrid as the Spanish football club arrived here.

The 'Colchoneros' are on an Asian tour that started in Japan on July 29, reports Efe.

The team had a morning practice in Japanese city of Saga on Sunday where they beat Sagan Tosu on penalty kicks before flying to China.

The Colchoneros will play Shanghai SIPG on Tuesday.

Coach Diego Simeone's squad was welcomed at the airport by hundreds of fans who were seeking autographs from stars like team captain Gabi Fernandez, forward Fernando Torres, and China's Xu Xin, who was in high demand among fans.
