Udupi, Aug 7: In a tragic accident which took place at Muloor near Kaup, a motor bike rider hit the service bus moving ahead, after the bus driver suddenly applied brakes. The accident occurred on Thursday August 6.

The unfortunate victim of the accident happens to be Muralidhar (25) from Kushalnagar Bailukoppa, a lab technician student of Manipal University. The accident occurred when he was moving towards the town from Mangaluru on national highway 66.

It is said that the driver of the service bus, who was driving the bus in a reckless way, suddenly stopped his bus midway without giving any signal or indication. The motor bike rider, who did not expect this sudden development, hit the bus from behind. Because of the force of the collision, the entire motor bike got stuffed into the gap between the road and body of the bus. The helmet Muralidhar was wearing at the time also flew away. Muralidhar, who survived with grave injuries, was rushed to a private hospital in the town, where treatments given failed to save his life, it is gathered.

Padubidri police have registered a case and conducting investigation. Many locals said that there is a crying need to place restrictions on the speed of the buses, which wait at certain bus stands for long, and then race ahead full steam to compete with other buses, before frequently coming to a stop instantly in the middle of the road to pick passengers.
