Udupi: Fall from moving bus proves fatal for man

Udupi, Aug 13: In an unfortunate incident which occurred near Akashavani tower at Brahmavar in the district on Wednesday August 12, a person fell from a bus and succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Ramakrishna Kalkur (65), who owned an electrical shop at Brahmavar. He was a resident of Kalbettu in Handadi village near Brahmavar.

Kalkur was boarding a private express bus to go to Udupi along with Raveendradas Shenoy, who works in his shop. Raveendradas Shenoy had entered the bus in question and Kalkur, who was behind Shenoy, had placed one of his feet on the foot board, when the driver of the bus, identified as Rajeev, suddenly moved the bus ahead. Kalkur lost his balance, fell down to the road, and suffered grave injuries. He also lost his consciousness. He was admitted into a private hospital at Brahmavar initially, and then referred to Manipal hospital for advanced care. However, he did not respond to treatments, and breathed his last sometime later.

A case about this incident was registered at Brahmavar police station.
