Bantwal, Jun 17: The general public in Vittal town here in this taluk are apprehensive over the theft of jewellery worth over Rs three lac from the residence of Dr Shiva Kumar, located at Bobbekeri Kodi on May 20, since investigations by the police have yielded no result.

It has been the lone case involving such a huge amount in Vittal as far as the people of the place can remember. The burglars entered the house breaking open the main door with a pickaxe and decamped the gold and jewellery. The soon after, the police arrived at the spot with the dog squad  and forensic experts.  The dog has identified the son of the housemaid.

However, despite rigorous interrogation by the police, he has not revealed any vital clues.  Moreover, the finger print experts could not find any clear prints from the crime spot.  The housemaid, Kamala, has complained to the SP, alleging that her son Purandar is being unnecessarily interrogated.

The public are concerened over the fact that the investigations seemed to be dampened and no progress was found in the inquiry, when such a large amount was involved.
