Sheena murder: Indrani's former husband arrested in Kolkata

Kolkata, Aug 26 (IANS): Sanjeev Khanna, former husband of Indrani Mukherjea who was detained on charges of killing Sheena Bora, was arrested by police from Mumbai here on Wednesday, an officer said.

Khanna was arrested from Alipore area after being grilled for a few hours by Mumbai police personnel.

The arrest comes a day after Indrani, the wife of former media honcho Peter Mukherjea, was nabbed from Mumbai's suburban Khar. She has been booked on charges of killing Sheena in 2012 and disposing off her body.

Khanna, a businessman residing in the city's Hastings area, was found by police at his friend's place in Alipore from where he was arrested.

"Mumbai police sought our help in tracing Sanjiv Khanna. He was arrested from the house of a friend in the city," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pallab Kanti Ghosh.

Khanna was brought to the Alipore police station. He will be presented before a city court on Thursday where Mumbai police will seek his transit remand.

Meanwhile, Ajay Rawla, from whose house Khanna was picked up by police, claimed Sheena was not Khanna's daughter.

"Sanjiv Khanna and Indrani Mukherjee had been separated for long. They have a child but Sheena is not their daughter," Rawla told media persons here.

Peter Mukherjea has claimed Sheena was his step-daughter and had an affair with his son Rahul. "Sheena was in a relationship with my son, which Indrani disapproved of," he said.
