Beary Sahitya academy honours prominent personalities

Udupi, Sep 6: Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy organized the ‘Beary Sahitya and Samskritika Sangama’ on Saturday September 5 at Marhum Hazi Mohiddin Master Platform, Brahmagiri, Udupi.














Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj inaugurated the programme and said, “There are 1, 600 languages in the nation. Beary is one of these rich languages. There are lots of words in the language. Poetry, proverbs, and puzzles are not structured by us but were contributed by our ancestors. We are not able to invent new words, not even the so called wise persons.”

He also said, “The present youth are expecting to enjoy hereditary properties instead of showing interest towards literature. Youth need to focus on preserving and grooming our rich cultural heritage.”

B A Mohammed Haneef, president, Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, presided over the programme.

The following teachers received honours from the committe—Master Mehammud, president, Bearys’ Group Institution, Kodi Kundapur, Mohuiddin Master Kaup, Hindi language teacher, Adam Davalagi, headmaster, Government Urdu Higher Primary School, Mallar, Nirmal Kumar, headmaster, Higher Primary School, Karandady.

The Academy felicitated the achievers who rendered service in various fields including Dr Razak UK, DM cardiology (KMC Manipal), Hazi K Abubakkar Atrady, honourary president of consumer forum, Parkala, Mohammed Shareef Karkala, social worker and member, Karkala city municipality, and Yakub Khadar Gulwadi, an emerging writer.

A talk on ‘Beary’s in Udupi District’ was presented by advocate Hans Hezamady.

Renowned poets Rahim Ujire, Basheer Ahamad Kinya, Fizol Mulky, Ashraf Apolo, and P M Siddik Padubidre recited their poems in the presence of Muhammad Baddur.

Udupi Diocese inter-religious dialogue commission director Fr William Martis, Hameed Padubidre, convener, and Umarubba, registrar, were present.
