Hyderabad, Sep 7 (IANS): Police have banned use of remote-controlled drones in Hyderabad without prior permission in view of the intelligence alerts about their possible use for terror attacks.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy on Monday issued the order that no non-government agency, organization or individual will be allowed to launch Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) or Unmanned Aerial Survey (UAS).

The order will be in force for a month, said a statement from the office of the police chief.

The order stated that no flying activities of remotely controlled drones or para-gliders or remotely-controlled micro-light aircraft will be allowed without prior police permission in writing.

Government agencies and organizations have to obtain appropriate clearance from local police and aviation authorities before launching any UAS/UAV for any purpose.

Last week, Cyberabad Police Commissioner C. V. Anand had issued similar orders.

He made it compulsory for event organizers, organizations and individuals to obtain prior police permission in writing for any flying activity.

Organisers of musical concerts, film functions and other events are using remote controlled drones for getting aerial views for live telecast and photography.

While core areas of Hyderabad and twin city of Secunderabad fall under Hyderabad police commissionerate limits, Cyberabad police commissionerate covers Information technology hubs of HITEC City and Gachibowli and areas surrounding the twin cities.
