Mangaluru: Cheated by partners, Adyarkatte businessman ends life

Mangaluru, Sep 9: Ayyappa, who used to run a tyre shop near Adyarkatte in the outskirts of the city, committed suicide late night on Monday September 7.

Ayyappa was running a shop dealing in tyres in partnership with two others. Since sometime, the business had been facing financial constraints. Frustrated at being unable to reverse the fortunes of his business, Ayyappa often expressed to his wife the desire to end his life. His wife therefore, always went to bed after her husband slept.

On Monday night, Ayyappa's wife was awake till 2 am and then went to bed. At around 7.45 am, she started to search for her husband, who was not to be seen. She found that the door of the other bedroom of the house had been locked from inside. She broke open the door, and found that Ayyappa had hanged himself from the ceiling fan with the help of a cloth.

In a slip found nearby, Ayyappa was found to have written that he had been cheated by his business partners to the extent of Rs 6 lac. On the basis of complaint lodged with the rural police here, a case was registered and an investigation was launched.
