Chennai, Sep 9 (IANS): The central government has given its nod for the Hosur engineering industry cluster in Tamil Nadu, union Minister for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman said on Wednesday.
Speaking at the Global Investors Meet organised here by the Tamil Nadu government, Sitharaman said the central government has given "in principle" clearance for the Hosur engineering industry cluster.
She also said that the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor project will be completed soon with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) being tasked with the preparation of a detailed project report.
According to Sitharaman, Ponneri taluk in Tamil Nadu has been identified as an industrial node.
She said the central government has identified 25 thrust areas for the Make in India programme and a professional organisation has been tasked with the responsibility of working with the ministries concerned.
Sitharaman said a bill has been introduced in parliament to set up commercial courts to hear commercial disputes.
Commercial courts would have a positive impact on the cases relating to intellectual property rights, tax, insurance matters, she said.
