Discontinuing Rajiv, Indira's stamps is political vendetta: Congress

Mumbai, Sep 16 (Midday News): Congress today criticised the NDA government's decision to discontinue the postage stamps depicting former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, terming it as an act of "political vindictiveness".
"Politics, policies need to be opposed and there should not be hatred towards individuals. This politics of hatred and vindictiveness is not good for democracy," Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil said in a statement today.

"On the one hand, the Government discontinues postage stamps of Indira and Rajiv Gandhi, on the other, it plans stamps of Shyamaprasad Mukherji and Deendayal Upadhayaya. This is nothing but vindictiveness," Vikhe Patil said.

The Centre has decided to discontinue stamps of former Prime Ministers, Rajiv and Indira Gandhi, under the new definitive theme of postal stamps. The government has replaced 'Builders of Modern India' theme, which included stamps of Indira and Rajiv Gandhi, with 'Makers of India' theme.

However, stamps of Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, B R Ambedkar and Mother Teresa have been retained.

    This Shows how our Govt.is working.They dont know who was a maker of India and not.Any way when they discontinue their stamps,their value willnot be reduced but goes high since it is rare.so dont throw any stamps from them.afterall hardly one uses write a letter now because of modern digital methods.IG.s stamps are always asked.who are These two?anybody knows them?Govt.is making a mistake by discontinuing.well let them do what they want and other countrys will be wondering about our way of thinking.Shame less act.

    Govt is simply playing politics of revenge. I.G. is the only women PM the country had and R.G. a person with great personality. you introduce new stamps but why undo the exisisting. very soon we will have stamps in the name of Mohan Bagawth, Ram Dev, etc this is the only ache dhin promissed be Pm are come

    Ideally Stamps can be issued with pic of great personalities like Sir Vishweshwarayya, Mother Theresa, Dr.APJ Kalam etc....istead of any politicians....

    Cancelling Late Indira Gandhi and late Rajive Gandhi is the falling down of Modi Government's doom. These two persons have done a great for India and gave their life to the Nation. Personal vindictiveness shows Modi's uneducated nature. Let it be any government let her leave all individual hatred and work for the development of our Nation Of India. Indians are clever let the Government encourage such young brains. India is a very old Nation recorded in the Bible two times in the book of Esther. USA name is not there. Let us hold fast of the history of India.

    Pastor Frank: There is an hidden plan of the Almighty GOD, the BJP Government in New Delhi which is doing totally irrational things to hurt and demoralize the minorities and opposition parties.

    They will be learning some very hard lessons for their insane march then only they will understand about the mighty power of the divine hand.

    When they came into power, the VHP or BD or RSS jobless street gangs went to my friend's Church in the slum where I have preached once, and forced them to close finally they had to get another place.

    Since AAP came into power, now they are not afraid of worshipping. Mr.Modi is travelling around the world to bring trillions of dollars in foreign investment.

    Let the BJP at first to impress the world can introduce a total
    meat ban in India. No killing-consumption and export of beef, mutton, chicken or anything else.

    Let the cows-oxen-goat-lamb-pigs-buffalo-chicken-goat and the rest may have their freedom to live, which can be a great accomplishment of the BJP to show the world around.

    It's wrong to discontinue stamps of late PM Indira Gandhi & Ragiv Gandhi who are not only great leaders but also contributed immensely to India's economy.There may have controversies based on political views but certain things should be always above politics.

    Mr. Prabhu: What this BJP doing is simply digging their own grave, displaying political vendetta.

    Thank GOD, if we had a different Prime Minister other than Pundit Nehru, India would have been another North Korea under the leadership of some religious fanatics of those days I don't want to mention their names.

    Mr. Rajiv Gandhi was the real person who set start the growth of India through the introduction of market economy shifting away from socialism also a solid relationship with the western world was initiated, especially with the U.S.

    Now the BJP is trying to erase their names! Let these weird-minded politicians may issue "monkey and cow staps".

    What a terrible march of the nation? These forest educated politicians .............., what a tragedy?
