Mangaluru: Happy end - Young lovers’ suicide bid foiled

Daijiworld Media Network- Mangaluru (RJP)

Mangaluru, Sep 19: Suicides by youngsters, especially those of lovers, are on the rise these days. A young couple in love, who had come to Mangaluru city to commit suicide, were stopped from doing so, were counselled and sent back to their respective houses. The smooth handling of the case by the railway employees and police personnel is praiseworthy.

As per details, the boy aged 18 and his girlfriend a year younger arrived in Mangaluru city by train with the intention of committing suicide together. Both belonged to the same community and were from Hassan. When they were roaming around on the railway platform the ticket collector (TC) stopped them and demanded the tickets. The girl took a paper from her bag and gave it to the TC without realising that it was not the ticket.

The TC from Rajasthan could not read the paper written in Kannada but he grew suspicious and asked them for more details about them. The boy said that the girl was his sister. The TC not convinced by this, took them both to the office and kept them in separate rooms and asked them to write their house addresses on separate papers. The TC upon seeing different addresses on the papers got convinced that they were not brother and sister.

The TC at this time felt that the girl’s dress was not in order and requested her to adjust it and sent her to the bathroom. The girl who used this opportunity tried to run away. But with the help of other passengers, she was stopped from doing so. Later the TC handed over the couple to the police.

The TC also gave the paper to the police which the girl had given to him when he had demanded the ticket. Police who read the paper were surprised to note the contents. It was a death note written by the young lovers. They had written that they had come to Mangaluru to commit suicide as their families objected to their marriage.

The police immediately phoned the parents of the lovers and asked them to come to Mangaluru and counselled both the parties. Later the lovers were separately handed over to their respective families. It is said that both families have gone back to their hometown happily as two lives were saved.

Love has toppled kings, inspired poets, soothed beasts, it is credited for life's greatest joys and blamed for most crushing sorrows, of course it makes the world go round. But why these teenagers fall in love as it it the time for study and career building?. May be the influence of some movies, careless parents or drama to get the attention of others about their love?

    Jossey...
1.I do not fight on any basis.
2.In fact long before people thought along these lines of all Gods being one and all that I was one step ahead.
    3. I did not believe in castes. Went head long and fell in love with a girl. You know who! In fact everyone reading Daiji knows! Now even my wife knows!
    5. Now that Porbu drove me out...saying ..Tuzee zaat kaalen and all that! Now there is 'Vishwa Konkani Parishad' and all that and everybody mingles and giggles freely! I was mingling and giggling long time back! Got my point?
For me Allah ,Jesus and Ganapa are very close. i talk to them on a daily basis...Do you?
