Kundapur, Sep 20: "Broad-mindedness is gradually disappearing from our world. A broad mindset is necessary to change the society. Prosperity is possible only if institutions unite. Celebration of Ganeshotsava helps in uniting us and shedding our narrow-mindedness," said Dr Veerendra Heggade the Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala.

Dr Heggade was speaking on the occasion of the 50th Ganeshotsava celebrations jointly organized by Ramakshathriya Youth Club, Ramakshathriya Sangha and Sri Sita Ramachandra Temple, Kundapur.

"Today, poverty in India is not as much as it was before Independence. There are more opportunities now. Society has changed a lot. Everyone should think about leading a cultured life away from bad habits. If we follow the path of righteousness, then we can achieve anything with God's grace," Dr Heggade added.

"Lord Ganesh is dependable. He is omnipresent. He is adored and venerated throughout the world. Devotees should seek God in order to feel His presence. The objective of public celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi is uniting people and bringing in religious awareness," he said.

"Culture and rituals are important to a human being. We should walk on the right path and tell our children to follow the same. People from Kundapur region are original devotees of Dharmasthala. Ramakshathriya people have special regard for Dharmasthala," Dr Heggade noted.

Vishwa Ramakshathriya Sangha president Laxminarayana, regional Dharmadhikari of Sri Sharada Peetha of Sringeri Dr H Narasimhamurthy, B Appanna Hegde from Basroor Sri Mahalingeshwara temple graced the occasion.

Dr Veerendra Heggade was felicitated during the function. Secretary Rajashekara Hegde read out the citation. Suresh Bettin welcomed.

Former minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, town municipal president Kalavathi U S, Girija Udaya Hawaldar from Mahila Mandali were also present.
