Mangaluru, Sep 22: Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim on Monday September 21 revealed that the major roads in city will get footpaths and drainage system in three months time.
Ibrahim was speaking in the work progress review meeting. He said that a special meeting to discuss the blue print of the work will be called soon and the matters related to the major works like drainage and footpath will be discussed.
“Work worth Rs 24.64 crore for 10 footpaths and drainages has been approved by the government. 2nd instalment of Rs 100 crore has also been sanctioned. But no one has applied for the whole work tenders though the corporation called for the same several times. Now a meeting will be called to decide about calling tenders for piece work.”A B Ibrahim said.
Ibrahim also said that town hall which is being repaired will be ready on November 1 for public use. “A sum of Rs 92 lac has been approved for generator room, interlock, CCTV and LED screen. Panelling work will be completed by September end and then the air conditioning work will resume.”Ibrahim said.
The deputy commissioner also said that the facilities at the public swimming pool will be improved soon with mosaic tiles laid around the pool with an outlay of Rs 25 lacs and new toilets with an outlay of Rs 15 lacs. A team has already visited Bengaluru to study the swimming pools there, he said.
MLA Moideen Bawa demanded that Suratkal should also be included in the developmental work. Captain Ganesh Karnik, Mayor Jacintha Alfred, Corporation commissioner Dr Gopalakrishna, deputy mayor Purushothama Chitrapur were present in the meeting.
