Udupi , Sep 24: Kaup police raided an illegal slaughterhouse in Manipura near Kaup on Thursday September 24 afternoon and seized meat and weapons used for slaughtering.

Kaup police raided the residence belonging to former gram panchayath member Hassan Sheikh after receiving some credible information about the illegal slaughtering taking place at the place. Police seized the cattle flesh and the weapons used for slaughtering from the raided place.

When the police reached the spot, situation turned tense after local people gathered and heated arguments took place between the police and locals. Later police managed to raid the house. KSRPC contingent was summoned to the village as a precautionary measure.

ASP Suman, circle inspector Sunil and other police personnel took part in the raid.

    Samanya Jana,
If it's Bakrid and you want to sacrifice, why the cow, why not Bakri or Murgi.
Dear senseless commentator, don't teach Muslims about Islam. Its running past 1400 years. They have particular animal for sacrifice. Who are you to change the path of a muslim community. First you learn from your elders about your own faith and then see the others. Wake up and don't wear CHADDI.

    All Commenting from the Gulf:
When you are Employed, being paid by the beef eaters and when your family is dependent on beef eaters, I can understand your taste for the beef and that's why you defend such deeds.
The reality is that you have no voice to raise against your masters. This is true for those who are scavenging on the gulf money back home too.
You do something illegal and blame the police and the majority community. You should be ashamed of your selves.
If it's Bakrid and you want to sacrifice, why the cow, why not Bakri or Murgi. Just because you want to break the law. And some one defending this saying its a private compound. A Crime is a crime even within a private house and compound.
    Please understand one thing NRI's.
You may be staying there and earning your living. But you still belong to this country. We know how you people are treated as HINDIS. But, irrespective of the religion, we are all brothers and sisters and belong to this great nation. Just because you are getting paid in other currencies, do not forget your roots and defend illegal activities.

    Samanya jana,
    What is illegal here??
And what is the connection to earning in Gulf to this???
Beef is not banned in Karnataka.
And eating beef is not against Indian constitution.
Give your lecture to uneducated chaddis.
If you can then ask geku master to stop exporting beef to gulf countries. Why cant he stop export of beef.Beef export will not hurt chaddis sentiments????
For your knowledge I know this people and they are into house construction business. And who are we to advise what to sacrifice and what not when there is no Ban.

I do not want to comment on slaughtering of animals. But we lost 10 cows from cattle trafficking in which two cows are kidnapped infront of us by group consisting of more than 10. Nobody came to help.We were totally helpless. I didn't lost hope and still rearing cows(5) with great interest. These lazy goondas sleep in the morning & become active at night like fox.

India exported 2068000 kilos of beef to Vietnam, Saudi , Malaysia and other Middle Eastern countries according to report. And become number 1 exporter in the world . Exported more beef than basmati rice. So just a thought what's all the drama about eating beef by our own citizens. Can't understand the logic. Or may be I don't know what others know. So basically it's simple protein. Any one want to know statistics just google u find out. But police are getting over excited with this issue.

I am against anything illegal and I strongly believe those people involved in illegal things should be punished irrespective of religion, caste creed etc!. But here I want to ask few questions,
    1. What was illegal in this case!?, Where its stolen animal or the slaughterhouse itself!?
    2. If the animal was not stolen, then whether it was the slaughtering itself!?
    3. If slaughtering was without permission, then whether slaughtering of animals at Kaup Kali Temple legal!?
    4. Don't other religions slaughter animals in their houses during festivities!?

Udupi sp annamalai has done some good job but in this case he failed. If cattle sacrifice as per relegious liberty becomes illegal then how can the govt ban the meat sale on some other relegious festival sentiments. The organisation like popular front has capacity to handle this issue effectively who must come forward. We must remember a speech of our famous chaddi leader when election about beef.. Its really sad that, Police show their power on Muslim Feast day. As we saw the scenario of house in picture, i dont think its an illegal slaughter house. Today only they slaughter Cow because of Bakrid Feast. Even its not an theft cow, because no one claim that their cattle get stolen & all. Its just VHP/BAJARANJA DALA/RAMASENE wants to highlight themselves in news. If Cow is godness for Hindu, let hindu stay away from it. Why u hindus snacting fundamental rights as mentioned in constitution of India from us. In our india, if u slaughter a human, not an offence. But u slaughter an cattle, all kesarie bayraas will start protest on road. Please learn from Katapadi youth club, they did outstanding work on their Ganeshostava by donating one house of poor couple. Gov. of karnataka should lift the ban on beef, because as much gov. making strict, peopels like to break the law, not just because of fun, its their ancient custom that they are slughtinh & eating beef. Congress also now acting like silent BJP agent.

If you have a look at the pictures, the said house is located very close to the main road and I don't think they can run a slaughter house in that open area. They might have sacrificed an animal just for today as it is Eid. At least for one or two days police should not raid any house belonging to Muslims until Eid festival is over.

    This beef is cursed
    This beef is unhygienic
    This beef is unhealthy
This beef is from stolen cattle
This beef is from pregnant cows
This beef is from the milk yielding cows
This beef is from stolen cows of poor farmers
This beef is from loving animals

Moreover this beef is not al all HALAAL.... it is HARAAM

Is it mentioned anywhere in news that the slaughtered animal is stolen? There are not even pictures in the above report to come to a conclusion that the animal is slaughtered in unhygienic conditions, so please desist from writing such non-sense comments from Singapore.

Just try to learn what is halal and haram.
conditions what u mentioned above can imply to goat and chicken.
The method of slaughtering an animal is that the four main arteries of its neck should be completely cut (jugular artery, foodpipe, jugular vein and windpipe). It is not sufficient to split open these arteries or to cut off the neck. And the cutting of these four main arteries becomes practical when the cutting takes place from below the knot of the throat.

Do we have any legal slaughter house in nearest for bakrid sacrifice.NO.The religious sentiments of jains weights more valuable than the muslims in this case.Chaddies become more alert when bakrid but police dept must know that the festival of Eid ul adha has much more to do with animal sacrifice. If these kind of raid trend continues then the honourable court must summon the govt about how can we protect our religious liberty provided by the constitution.
