Kundapur, Sep 29: The Kundapur police have arrested the accused in connection to the murder of former Beejady gram panchayat member Jayamala, which took place after a drunken brawl on the night of Sunday September 27 at Koraga colony of Kumbhashi.

The police on Tuesday September 29 arrested Jayamala's paramour Papanna, with whom she had been staying after separating from her husband Ramesh and children.

Papanna went absconding after the incident. Police sources said that he admitted to have killed Jayamala by hitting her with a staff in a fit of anger.

Jayamala and Papanna were seen together at around 7 pm on Sunday, and at around 10 pm, they went to Papanna's mother's house in Koraga colony. Both of them were in an inebriated state and had a quarrel. On the morning of Monday September 28, Jayamala was found lying dead outside the house by the locals.

There were injury marks on her head and back, indicating that she had been murdered. As Papanna was missing, the needle of suspicion pointed at him. It is learnt that on seeing Jayamala lying dead on Monday morning, Papanna panicked and went absconding.

The police who took up the investigation searched for Papanna and arrested him near Chempi at Salingrama. Papanna has said that he was not legally married to Jayamala, but they were living together.

Esther, Reservation until 60 plus does not show any yield! Please check the efficiency of reservation candidate and then talk! Unless for votes service of most such appointments stinks!!!
Instead of reservation in elections, teach them skill of fishing rather than feeding! Give them free education until degree including hostel, food and little pocket money than spoiling image of govt jobs and laws to protect such lazy and unfits!! Equal rights for all without reservation might change the situation in next 10 years than pampering of 60plus years!!

Mr Esther, What is the parameter for equality? What are the responsibilities of a grama panchayat member ? What for is the grama panchayat is formed? What kind of development we can expect from this kind of people? What do u mean by opportunity? As per theory of Darvin, All are struggling for existence, the fittest will service ! We are going against the nature and natural justice!

You never ever want them to be equal to you? In reality, they have equal rights as yours. They are suppressed generation together, w/o equal opportunities. That is why they need reservation upto the creamy layer.
