Mumbai, Oct 5: “It is a specialty that a conference such as this which is unusual in Mangaluru is being held in Mumbai. Mogaveera magazine which has completed nearly 75 years has helped to develop culture. As
the future of Kannada depends on today's citizens, our children should be encouraged to read and write Kannada so that Kannada newspapers may continue to exist. Mogaveera community has given full freedom to women and others should follow the humanity and generosity present in it,” said littérateur and researcher V G Nayak.

Nayak was speaking after presiding over the programme celebrating the 75th anniversary of Mogaveera organizing committee Mumbai monthly magazine 'Mogaveera', held at J P Nayak auditorium, Kaleena Vidyanagari, Mumbai on Friday afternoon, October 2.

Mogaveera Bank executive president Sadananda A Kotian unveiled the Mogaveera magazine edition. Well known poet H Dundiraj, Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangha, Maharastra president Chandrashekar Palethady and journalist and researcher Dr Seethalaxmi Karkikodi were present as guests of honour.

Mumbai University head of the department of Kannada Dr G N Upadhya, Mogaveera managing committee Mumbai president Ajith G Suvarna, honorary chief secretary Sanjeeva K Salian, joint treasurer
Purushotham Karkera, library committee executive president G K Ramesh, Mogaveera magazine manager Laxman C N Harish Putran and cultural committee president Srinivas Suvarna were present.

Veena Shastri sang a song. H Arun Kumar welcomed the gathering. Mogaveera monthly magazine editor Ashok S Suvarna gave a key note address. Dr G N Upadhya was the main speaker. G K Ramesh, Dayavathi Suvarna, G K Karkera and Purushotham Sriyan presented flower bouquets and mementos to the guests of honour and felicitated them. Former editor of Magaveera, G P Kusuma welcomed the gathering, introduced the guests and compered the programme.
