Sydney, Oct 9 (IANS): Two cab drivers in Australia's Queensland state have been charged with targeted attacks on Uber drivers who operate outside normal regulations.
The duo will face a Brisbane court on Friday charged with a string of offences, including assault, stealing and unlawful entry of a vehicle, Xinhua news agency reported.
The charges came after rising frustrations among taxi drivers that the app-based car service is operating illegally in Queensland.
Brisbane detectives have charged two local official cab drivers over assaults on Uber drivers in Brisbane, a police spokeswoman said on Friday.
The men will lose their jobs for the local taxi cab company they work for, if found guilty.
Police alleged a group of five men assaulted a man before grabbing his mobile phone as he sat in his vehicle in Brisbane.
