Bengaluru, Oct 13: Vijayanagar Konkani Catholic Sangh – Bengaluru is all set to host ‘Wilson Olivera Nite’, a musical extravaganza filled with foot-tapping music, scintillating dance moves and rib-tickling comedy at Chowdiah Memorial Hall on January 17, 2016 from 5:30 pm onwards.

The Vijayanagar Konkani Catholic Sangh is an association of energetic Mangalurean parishioners of Vijayanagar, Bengaluru. The musical fiesta is being organized in support of the new St John the Baptist’s Church building at Vijayanagar, Bengaluru under the able leadership of Alwin Pinto, the current president of the association who took charge recently. The association brings together all Konkani families during the Nativity feast and organizes cultural programmes followed by the traditional 'Noven Jevan'. The association has just completed 3 years is now geared up to raise funds for the construction of the church building, thereby facilitating more and more families in the parish to actively part take in the Eucharist and other church programmes and activities.

This event would not only enable them to support their noble venture but also promote Konkani music and culture. The show is also supported by the event partner, Master Aaron Mathew Pais.

After enthralling Konkani music lovers in 2003 and recently in 2014, Wilson Olivera is back again to entice his fans with mesmerizing music and to also give back to the society by supporting the noble cause of raising funds for the new church building of Vijayanagar. With lively music and meaningful lyrics, vibrant dances along with standup comedy, this musical extravaganza will be a sheer treat to the senses of Konkani hearts, both young and old.

Wilson Olivera’s music has always ruled the hearts of ardent Konkani music lovers and he constantly strives to provide innovative music every time to cater to the varied musical tastes of the people. With over 800 compositions and seven music albums to his credit, Wilson the music maestro is indisputably a musical heart throb among Konkani music buffs.

Having rendered momentous lyrics and melodious music, he has been bestowed the titles of ‘Sangeeth Sardar’ and ‘Konkan Manik’. He is also the recipient of prestigious awards like 'Konkani Kala Samaj Puraskar' in 1995, 'Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Award' in 2003, 'Divo Sahitya Puraskar' in 2008 and 'Konkani Surdas Puraskar' in 2009.

The musical troupe will be complemented with ace music led by Roshan D’souza and his team who will definitely add to the overall exuberance of the show. Talented singers such as Rony Crasta, Pradeep Pinto, Prashanth Pinto, Joseph Mathias, Stuart Olivera, Babita Pinto and Priya Menezes will join Wilson in presenting a sensational musical evening. These singers will just be an icing on the cake who will add additional charm to Wilson’s evergreen rendition of melodious performances.
Wilson Olivera will also be ably supported by renowned musician Roshan D'Souza who will ooze magnificence to this extravaganza, leading as the music director for the nite.

The musical evening will be compered by none other than Ronald Olivera, the award-winning master of ceremony and the younger brother of Wilson Olivera. A proud winner of International Toast Masters Award for four consecutive years, and having compered for innumerable musical shows of renowned artistes of Konkani music world, Ronald Olivera is highly recognized and applauded as the impeccable entertaining compere and is sure to capture the rapt attention of the Konkani audience .

The evening will be a power packed house of entertainment with a variety of dance performances from young and aspiring dancers of the famous dance troupe, 'Nach Sobhann'. In addition to this, the audience will also witness a dose of comedy from the ever popular comedy trio 'Me-Mo-Ri' who are sure to create a riot of laughter among the crowd with their hilarious jokes and one-liners and will definitely be an added attraction of the musical nite.
