Mangaluru, Oct 14: Trouble erupted at Mundana, Kadri here on Wednesday October 14 after two groups clashed in connection to a land dispute. A bus and tempo were damaged and two persons sustained injuries in the incident.

It is said that a land at Kadri Kambala has been claimed by two parties - P V Mohan and Somayaji Bhat, and Angelina T Rego whose family has a tyres business. Several tyres were stocked at the land, and the MCC health department had issued a notice to remove them before the spot could become breeding site for malaria. 

On Wednesday, the health officers went to the spot to inspect, but found that the tyres had not been removed. On receiving information, people belonging to both parties started gathering and soon arguments over the land turned into a full-fledged clash. Some of the people pelted stones and damaged a bus and a tempo.

The Kadri police rushed to the spot and managed to disperse the mob.

Meanwhile, the officers returned without taking any action.

Police sources said that in their complaint, P V Mohan and Somayaji Bhat claimed that the land belonged to them, and that tyres were being illegally stored there.

In a counter complaint, Angelina claimed that the land was the ancestral property of her family and alleged that P V Mohan, Somayaji Bhat and their group had illegally come to their property and assaulted them. She alleged that about 15 years ago, P V Mohan and Somayaji had created fake documents to lay claim on her property.

Angelina said that her family has a tyre shop in Hampankatta and factory, but as there was no space there, the tyres were stock on the land. 

She also claimed that the group damaged her family's vehicles.

It is learnt that Angelina's two sons Denzil and Demator sustained injuries and admitted to hospital, while another son Desmond sustained injuries in the ear and leg.

Kadri police have accepted complaints from both the parties and investigations are on.
