Kasargod, Oct 14: A Qatar-bound passenger narrowly escaped from being caught with ganja after he found it in a pair of jeans given to him by another person. The incident was reported at Manjeshwar here on Wednesday October 14.

Ashraf, a resident of Kunjathur, was preparing to leave for Qatar for a job, when a person named Rahim, a resident near Manjeshwar railway station, gave him a pair of jeans and asked him to hand it over to his friend in Qatar.

Ashraf accepted the request and took the parcel from Rahim. Fortunately, he checked the jeans thoroughly while packing his luggage and found ganja hidden inside the hem.

He immediately informed the Manjeshwar police, who arrived at the spot and upon inspection, found that the ganja weighed 20 grams.

The Manjeshwar police have filed a case against Rahim and two of his friends.

Further investigations are on.

    The information is not correct.
Ashraf is working in riyadh saudi arabia,he was travelling to saudi not qatar.
When his friend bought the parcel, ashraf was not in his house so his uncle received the parcel.as he grew suspicious he opened the parcel and the entire crap was found.

This is just for correction as i was living nearby.

Al Hamdulillah Ashraf may be done some good work in the name of " ALLAH" so he escaped from a severe and dangerous offence ie: in Arab country carrying ganja and narcotics is sentenced by death penalty. But it is requested to the police give the same punishment to Rahim in India same as Arab country.

Gone are the days carrying parcels for one another, avarice is so much that people will give you anything to make money. Mr Ashraf did a very good thing to check the jeans thoroughly.

Please do not agree to take any package for someone else, no matter who it is. Even illegal items may be banned in other countries. Suggest they ship through the post office.

In today's world, faith doesn't exist anymore as far as money in short-cut concerned. We should not accept or carry any parcels which somebody requesting us to handover to somebody in India or abroad. We never know that what the inside is. And for me, this one of the incident is a shameful act done by the Rahim. Parents and well wishers prayers saved Ashraf from big punishment.
