Mangaluru: Thieves smash window of parked car in heart of city, steal Rs 5 lac

Mangaluru, Oct 15: In a daylight theft, Rs 5 lac was stolen from a parked car at KS Rao Road here on Thursday October 15.

The car was parked in front of Jos Alukkas store in Excel Mall.

It is said that two unidentified men came in a bike, smashed the window of the rear door and snatched away the bag containing the cash, before speeding away.

The car belongs to lawyer Arun Kumar.

Bunder police arrived at the spot and registered a case.

It is learnt that the incident was recorded in a CCTV camera installed in Jos Alukkas, but police said that the footage was not clear and it was hard to identify the thieves.

    Best is to do as much transactions as possible electronically and avoid handling large amounts of cash, which always carries the risk of getting robbed by these well organized gangs!!

    With similar types of robberies taking place in recent times, definitely there is a well organized gang who keep tabs on customers in various 'high end' bank branches and pass on the info in detail to their colleagues who then carry out the 'flicking' job in style!!

    It is a big lesson for citizens who withdraw big amounts of cash to keep it personally with themselves till the point of delivery or best idea is to forget all other issues, and go and finish off the transaction without halting in between for whatever reason!! Jai Mangluru!

    Nowadays in Mangalore things are Happening which someyears back couldnt think.In the first place they themselves are careless.Why should Keep it visible in car?and go away.could hide it in their pockets,where a inside pocket in Pants.when the owner is not there ,a good Chance for thieves.They observe who draw Money and where he goes .Motor bike is the fast vehicle to do this Job ,covering head and face ,can hardly recognize.

    Crime in Mangaluru is increasing. We should have HD cameras in important junctions with a long but small (height) speed breakers like Dubai and Europe so that all the vehicles has to slow down and It would be easy to get clear picture of the vehicle and the number plate. This would also help to nab burglers and criminals in the night.

    Dear Bhat....In Mangalore there is accute shortage of police personnel.Now they are working under tremendous pressure here.This point has been high lightened by the police chief of Mangalore two days back.Govt has no priority to provide security to soceity/ common man.Thousand of youths are ready to join police force but our govt has no forsight..... this attitude has become a boon to criminals every where.....

Both Siddaramayya and George are happy looting the state to the core... why they will bother about society and people... it's absolutely s.it for them...if you question, they will respond... people need to bear with us... looting from all directions... and I am seeing one side of the society supporting them bearing everything and still supporting them and the joker yuvaraj.

    Car owner must have drawn the amount from some other Bank when the thieves noticed it and followed him up to Joy Alukkas in the bike. So, the CCTV of that Bank and also other CCTV on the way must be having the images of the thieves following on the Bike. Police can concentrate on this possibility.

    absolutely a fishy case. not a big deal to catch hold of the culprit. Either it's a car owner himself or a person who knows exactly the amount is inside car and also where is the amount... or else it's not easy to get to the right spot and pick up the bag just like that... definitely not a external thief...

    Mangalore is shining from all angles. Recently received message to vote / comment for Mangalore smart city. Also pamphlet placed in the news papers to comment on "Mangalore smart city" and win fabulous prize.
    Indeed! this is a practical example of smart city by a smart thief in a crowded area. Of course our smart will catch him smartly and our lawyers smartly prove that the thief is not an actual thief, but innocent. You see money stolen from advocate, which means thief smartly observed the advocate and made a breakthrough.

    Very surprising that the robbers managed to break the glass window and remove the packet in broad daylight crowded area, and nobody observed them doing it!!! Looks like people, in the rat race, have become 'zombies' (busy on their Iphone, pads, and phablets) and are unaware of what is going on around them, what a smart city!!

    How can dis happen in such a busy street n roads are fully packed with heavy traffic. Smashing the glass of the car n snatching doesn't sound dat easy, moreover the traffic police will always b der itslf as well as mischief mall security. Y couldn't someone stop dese fellow?.. Something fishy
