Mangaluru: Key eyewitness in Prashant murder case found hanging

Mangaluru, Oct 15: Almost a week after the murder of flower vendor and Bajrang Dal activist Prashant Poojary in Moodbidri, a key eyewitness in the case allegedly committed suicide in a shed in Moodbidri on Thursday October 15.

The deceased has been identified as Vaman Poojary (68).

Vaman had a tender coconut shop next to Prashant's shop, and at the time of the latter's murder on October 9 early morning, Vaman was present at the spot. He was thus considered a key eyewitness in the case.

Sources said that ever since Prashant's murder, Vaman appeared dull and did not mingle much with anyone.

On Thursday, he went missing after 3.30 pm, and locals started to search for him. His worried family members suspected that he might been kidnapped and informed the police.

Towards the evening, he was found hanging from a shed in the premises of his daughter's house near Swaraj Maidan in Moodbidri.

Moodbidri police arrived at the spot and investigations are on.

Any murder of anyone even if the person had "Kala" back ground should be investigated and the culprits should be brought to books as per law.
This coco vendor's doubtful death too should be investigated and culprits punished.

We should not support criminals through a political window. If we do, it will be harmful only to us in the long run.

yes, true. I feel it's already late that we started seeing the impact. Any ways, if authorities act immediately, investigate unbiased, punishing the culprits... no worry at all. I am stressing in both the cases... be it in minority case or majority case. Bring strict law and order in place, that's it. all these will stop. If they go to support one side of the story, all these things will increase and a day may come we may not be able to stop any of the groups.
