Yettinahole project- CM to convene meeting of MP, MLAs from DK

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Oct 16: Karnataka chief minister (CM) Siddaramaiah has convened a meeting of member of parliament and legislators from Dakshina Kannada district at Bengaluru on Monday, October 19 to discuss the issue of implementing Yettinahole project. The venue of the meeting, scheduled to be held at 11.30 am that day, will be the conference hall of Vidhana Soudha.

The CM will be presiding over this meeting. information technology minister, S R Patil, water resources minister, M B Patil, Dakshina Kannada MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, forest minister, B Ramanath Rai, health minister, U T Khader, youth services minister, Abhay Chandra Jain, chief whip of the opposition in the assembly, Sunil Kumar, legislators, Vasant Bangera, B A Mohiuddin Bava, J R Lobo, Shakuntala Shetty, S Angara, and Ivan D'Souza, additional chief secretary in forest department, additional chief secretary in water resources department, chief secretary of the department of law, environment department secretary, secretary in water resources department, managing director of Karnataka Irrigation Corporation, Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, superintendent of police, and zilla panchayat chief executive officer, have been invited to take part in the said meeting.

The deputy commissioner of the district has requested representatives of organizations leading protest against the project also to take part in the said meeting.

Out of the participants, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Vasant Bangera, Shakuntala Shetty and J R Lobo have openly supported anti-Yettinahole activists. Ramanath Rai and Khader also had raised voices at the previous cabinet meeting on behalf of Dakshina Kannada district. Angara and Sunil Kumar too are expected to take sides with the people of Dakshina Kannada district. If the representatives are able to effectively and forcefully put forth their points of view, there is hope of an amicable solution emerging at the meeting.

It is not known as to whether the CM would be making efforts to woo the representatives from Dakshina Kannada district with the aim of going ahead with the said project. If he is able to convince the participants and set aside fund for the project in the coming budget, it would be difficult to stall the project's implementation, it is generally felt.

Along with the above mentioned DK Representatives, if Janaradhana Poojary & Shoba Karandlaje also included for the meeting then there will be a good opposition.
Let us hope our DK Representatives (Those opposing the Yettinahole Project) will win this Battle.

It is a joke now. Do you think MP Nalin Kumar had no information of the work in progress?
A few hundred crores is already spent on this project. The concrete base work is done.
The BJP initiated this project,DVS approved all the work that is on process and now all of a sudden these politicians started awakening sleeping people who have no idea how big is the project. The people have no information of the impact of the project.
The approved project clearly states of collecting rain water at the western Ghats and then pump into to Kolar and other districts.
Dk people literally have not right on the proposed site as the site is in Hassan District and the rain water is collected in Hassan district.

Vincy...up to sakleshpura and moodigere was a part of tulunad. It's unfortunate that we had no separate state and now it's out of dk hence people feely can say as u said. Sad for the people of tulunad.

I only hope our elected so-called representatives display the courage to stand in front of the C.M. and convince him to the project. We want to see your victorious and shining faces and not your black faces. I wish Mr. Janardhan Poojary and Mr. Vijay Kumar Shetty too had been invited to take part in the meeting. Frankly, I do not have too much confidence in the others but if they can prove me wrong, I would only too too glad to eat my words. Prove your mettle at least now.

I hope the participants will be able to convince the Chief Minister Mr Siddaramiah and his bureaucrats to understand the view point of Dakshina Kannada people that if Yettina Hole project is implemented, the Netravati River might get dried in about 4-5 years & later then Karnataka Govt will have to build a pipeline from Krishna or Kaveri or Thungabhadra rivers to pump water to Mangalore & other places like Puttur, Bantwal, Belthangady etc.,

We wish god provide strength to our representatives for ensuring that the Project is delayed by a year to enable an independent study team to investigate & submit the report in next 12months, after which the govt will decided to venture into a final decision about this Project.

Wishing the meeting for a fruitful decision in favour of the people of Dakshina Kannada.

CM should have invited Sri janardhana Poojary ex MP from Mangalore who raised strong voice against YHP implementationThough he is not an elected rep now,his presense in the proposed meeting make much difference.I have no hope in any other persons who are called for to take part in the proposed meet.It is very much partinent to see that the present anti YHP movment got a take off only after Jannanna rose to shout against the contravertial project. Many protestors have now a copy of Poojary's letter about real facts/figures of project in their pocket.
Writter of 'Ramayana maha anveshanam' and 'thelikeda bolli'famous should also be asked to be present in the meeting. In case these two are participating in the meeting then CM should ban sale black ink in the vacinity of Vidhana Saudha !

may be a last chance to stop this bloody project. Trust the leaders of the local community will be able to stop this project and teach a lesson to honourable CM Siddaramayya that South Canara is not the place to d all the R&D and to move all rejected projects. People are smart enough to evaluate and stop if required.

So he is going for this Rs 15,0000 crore project he said. Let him also come.
    3. Good to see 'God wish' man Khader Bhai in team...
    Idhar Ka Khader
    Kolar Ka Father
