Sports event marks harvest festival at UBM Ebenezer Church, Malpe

Udupi, Oct 17: UBM Ebenezer Church, Malpe celebrated its new corn (harvest) festival with a fun-filled sports and games event on October 15.

The new corn was brought in a grand procession to the church, followed by a prayer service. Rev John J Ammanna, retired priest from Mangaluru, delivered the God’s Word along with Rev Kumar Salins and Rev Prabhakar Matthew.

The offerings and the fruits offered in the mass were later kept for the auction, for the development of the church.

The faithful organized a sports meet for the people of all age groups. Sports like cricket and tug-of-war was organized for men, while throwball and joining the pictures was held for women along with other fun activities. Hundreds participated in the exhilirating day of fun.

The valedictory function commenced after 6 pm. Dr Apeksha D Rao, BAMS Ayurvedic, MBA (HCS), Arthav Ayurvedic Clinic and Umesh A Nayak, principal, Sneha Tutorial College, Udupi were the chief guests and distributed the prizes. Rev Kumar Salins, Rev Prabhakar Matthew were present on the dais.
