Police seize gold worth Rs 30 lac at Mangaluru airport parking, arrest two

Mangaluru, Oct 18: Customs officials seizing gold at the airport is common news these days. But two passengers, who managed to come out from the airport without being detected, could not reach their destination. Bajpe police arrested them at the airport parking and seized gold worth Rs 30 lac from them.

Abdul Lathif (23) and Fazal Rahman (27) are the persons arrested. The incident took place on Saturday morning.

Police approached the duo that came from Dubai via air while they were waiting for a vehicle at the airport parking. The police demanded to the check the goods the duo carried.

Bajpe police inspector T D Nagaraj with his team discovered gold concealed in a mixer grinder. After the arrest, both of them were presented in the court later.

Sub inspector Ramesh Hanapura, ASIs- Sukumar, Janardhana Gowda, H C Ramachandra, Mohammed, and Omdas were part of the police team.
