Udupi: Miscreants damage Pejawar Swamiji's car in Belagavi

Udupi, Oct 19: A group of miscreants attacked the car of Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math in Belagavi in the early hours of Tuesday October 20.

Two other vehicles that were part of Swamiji's entourage were also damaged by the miscreants.

Pejawar Swamiji is scheduled to participate in a three-day programme at Sri Krishna Math in Belagavi. On Monday, he participated in a programme at Ghataprabha in Gokak and then left for Belagavi Sri Krishna Math.

The Swamiji's Innova car and two other vehicles were parked in front of the Math. At around 2 am, some miscreants came to the spot and pelted stones at the vehicles and damaged them.

The Innova driver who heard sounds came rushing out and saw five persons fleeing away in three bikes, it is learnt.

The local police arrived at the spot and investigated.

It is gathered that Pejawar Swamiji has decided not to pursue the matter. The motive behind the attack is not known.
