Sania Mirza agrees to guide UP's tennis talent


Lucknow, Oct 21 (IANS): Ace tennis player Sania Mirza on Tuesday agreed to extend guidance and coaching for young tennis players in Uttar Pradesh soon.

In a meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, she agreed to his request to extend her expertise in harnessing sporting talent in the state.

The two also discussed the possibilities of setting up of a tennis academy in either Noida or Lucknow.

Akhilesh Yadav told Sania that his government was promoting sports and encouraging sportspersons and that an international cricket stadium was taking shape in Lucknow and a similar stadium would be built for football.

Pointing out that the state had a lot of talent and scope for tennis for which the state government was actively considering making available infrastructure and necessary training facilities, he requested Sania to provide guidance and coach budding tennis players, and she agreed to extend all possible cooperation to the endeavour.
