Udupi, Nov 1: Vishwabrahmana Mahila Jagriti Samavesha-2015 was held with great vigour on Sunday, November 1 at Ammanni Ramanna Shetty auditorium in Udupi. The convention was organized by Sri Gayathri Mahila Mandali.

Sri Kalahastendra Saraswati Mahaswamiji of Anegundi Math, Katpady inaugurated the event.

Addressing the gathering, he said, "We have always venerated women and have held them in high esteem. A woman has inborn caring nature. If the perception on women has changed now, it is not a good development. We need to change that attitude. Woman’s point of view should be respected in the society."

Udupi-Chikkamagaluru member of parliament Shobha Karandlaje said, "The community should uplift the deprived classes of the society. Women should come forward in the political sector by using the available opportunities. How many women are using reservation facility especially in politics? The joint family system is alive in India only because of women. A child gets good lessons and discipline in a joint family."

"A bishop from a foreign country has said 'Religious conversion is tough in India because mother teaches her child the practice of custom and culture with much care'. A woman has the duty to carry forward our culture and rich heritage to the future generation. Women have no security in the present situation. Why do we not develop the habit of questioning boys about discipline instead of asking only girls? I will always support women and hope that the number of women politicians increase," Shobha added.

Swami Gurushiva Sujnanamurti of Aremadanahalli Math, Hassan who graced the occasion said, "The questions on Jakanacharya’s existence are shocking to the Brahmin community. Some people started questioning on religion, old practices, heritage and caste. Brahmin community has a long history. One should not ask baseless questions."

A grand and colourful procession was held from Jodukatte to the convention hall. A health check-up was conducted at the hall premises.

Vandana Yogeesh Acharya presided over the programme. Shashikala Prabhakar delivered the keynote address. Amritha Krishnamurthy Acharya, vice president, CMC Udupi, Hemavati Chandrashekhar, district and session court judge, Bangaluru, Veena Vishwanth Rao and others were present among others.

Nalini Diwakar Acharya welcomed the gathering. Mukta Jagadeesh Acharya and Shalini Jayaka compered the programme.

    Reasons for Tulunad separate state:
    1) As per the constitution a group of people speaking a language and having separate culture are entitled to have separate state. It is our right to have Tulu Nadu as our culture and language are different from Kannadigas.
    2) Tulu and Tulu Nadu culture will vanish if we do not have a seperate state. Tulu nadu has become kannada maya in the last 65 years. Tulu people do not speak in Tulu language for official functions. Tulu has taken a back seat in recognition. Kannada has been imposed ( in schools ) on Tulu Nadu people. Tulu has not been allowed for the children to learn
    3) Although Tulunadu brings in 2nd highest income to Karnataka state hardly any of it spent on Tulu Nadu
    4) There are hardly any job opportunities in Tulu Nadu and hence people migrate to other places, there is more violance in Tulu Nadu and tulu Nadu people do not have their own identity.
    5) We people from Tulu nadu do not have a seperate identiy of our own. kannada cannot be our identity and kannada is not our language
    6) If kannadigas argue that seperate statehood for tulu nadu is unacceptable, they only have to go back to their history ask themselves why they seperated from tamil Nadu.
    7) Kodugu, Mangalore, Udupi, kasaragodu,Uttar kannada, Sakaleshpur should be added together to form Tulu Nadu
8)Tulu should be made official language with encouragement for konkani, koorgi and byari bashe
9)People should study in tulu & English and only our regional languages such as Sanskrit, koorgi, konkani and byari bashe languages and reject Kannada as it is not our language
10)Tulu news paper should be published instead of kannada news papers
11)All the people should be made aware of the need of a seperate state as it is our constitutional right and Identity
    12) All those who think that a seperate state is not needed unfortunately are not aware of few important factors and are not proud of our languages and culture
    13) having a seperate state is not against anybody as we will be still in India having our own state ( own identity ), own govt, Better governance
    14) There are 5 dravidian languages one of them is tulu and rest all have own states
