Bengaluru, Nov 4: For the third time, Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala has turned down the State Government’s recommendation of Justice K L Manjunath for the post of the Karnataka Upa Lokyukta.

The Governor on Tuesday has returned the Siddaramaiah Government's recommendation of Justice Manjunath for the post and has reportedly sought a few clarifications in the light of some allegations against Manjunath.

This is the second time the Governor has refused to give his consent for the appointment of Manjunath for the anti-corruption agency.

Reacting to Governor's action, Chief Minister Sidaramaiah said: "The Governor has not rejected the file sent by government. He has only sought some clarifications for the second time and we will reply to it accordingly."

However, Karnataka’s Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister TB Jayacandra has strongly defended the State Government's choice of Justice Manjuanth for the post of Upa Lokayukta.

"There is no evidence to substantiate charges against Justice Manjunath. When the charges are baseless, why should the government change its choice," Jayachandra asked.

Replying questions from reporters in Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday, Jayachandra said he would meet the Governor if necessary to provide clarifications sought by the Governor in this regard.

"We do not see any valid grounds for objecting to Justice Manjunath’s appointment," he said adding: "The Judge has all the necessary credentials to hold the post.’’

When corrupt are ruling they want to protect the corrupt. There are several cases against BJP politicians in Karnataka. If Lokyayuktha is honest and empowered, it is hard to stay out of jail. First Loayuktha institution itself must be cleaned. The Lokayuktha appointed by Ex CM Shettar, turned out to be corrupt. Instead of resigning he is hiding with leave. It is a shame. If Governor does not appoint upalokayuktha then the institution is headless, this is exactly what BJP wants. This is found in Planing Commission, CVC, CIC and every where.

People now realize BJP is most corrupt and criminally inclined party.

Its time for the governor to become either a rubber stamp or become defacto ruler of Karnataka State just like Jung in Delhi.
This would help Modi to rule whole country without having his party in office in all the states.
Centralised Power System is the objective of the present govt., too.
The Motto is "Either Be With Us or You will be made to Suffer". This is the way of Development Model of Gujarath unfolding across all states.

    Dear Ramakrishna A K.
i hope you understand "The governor had also sent back the file seeking certain clarifications from the government earlier following objections by some non-governmental organisations"
More over state govt is unable to give clarification for 3rd time.
State govt is looking a lokayuktha like Mr. Bhaskar Rao, to enjoy wealth of Karnataka.

If State govt. is awake than they will not recommend a name 9 days after previous lokayukth left the office.
that 9 days is precious time for State govt.

"Better if we dont have Lokayuktha than having like Mr. Bhaskar Rao"

Actual reason is Dongi Congi govt not able to answer the queries by the Governor. Governor is smart enough to realize the game which state govt wants to play by deploying their favorite candidate at Upa Lokayukta and hence not accepting the file until the govt clarifies his queries. Trust the Governor will stick to his response till state govt give up their strategy to interfere and let a right and clean personality take over this position of Upa Lokayukta.

In Gujarat during Modi's Chief Ministership they had no Lokayukta. So this Gujarati Governor Vala does not want Lokayukta in Karnataka also. After all he is a staunch Modi's man.
