World Class Art Museum in Bengaluru on the lines of Amsterdam

Move over Van Gogh Art Museum in Amsterdam. The knowledge capital of India is set to have its own World Class Art Museum in Bengaluru on the lines of the famous Van Gogh Museum at Amsterdam.

The proposed museum will come up in the 468-acre Tatguni Estate, off Bengaluru on the Kanakapura Road, which was home for the World famous Russian Artist Svetoslav Roerich and his Indian actor-wife Devika Rani.

The Siddaramaiah cabinet at its meeting on Thursday cleared the proposal for setting up the World Class Art Museum in the Tatguni Estate.

The State Cabinet approved the plan and grant of Rs25cr for the project that would come up in the 468 acre Tataguni Estate.

The proposed art museum would have art exhibition halls, an auditorium, a mini-theatre to screen documentaries and other amenities.

The State government had decided to take up the project as part of its commitment to preserve the art legacy of Roerich and also the serene environment of the sprawling estate.

Speaking to reporters after the State Cabinet meeting, minister T B Jayachandra said the State Government has already taken up the renovation works in the estate.

The Tatguni Estate has a farmhouse, art studio and a garden of aromatic trees among others.

Many artifacts and material used by the Roerichs have been stored in a safe room till the renovation work is completed.

Can see more of fancy cars on Mlore roads and fancy apartment blocks in the city .all owned by you know who?
Already the state of affairs about garbage collection is pathetic. They expect you to keep the garbage bag near the gate and by the time the vehicle arrives the dogs would have played football with it and spread the garbage allover. There is no fixed time for their arrival and they do not collect from some interior places.
so much for smart city. first let them give us GOOD ROADS & PAVEMENTS and a clean city, then they can think of expanding.

100 cr Approval to Mangalore. Development takes place in Bangalore. What non-sense is this. Mangalore need proper water supply, electricity and drainage connection. foot path and building of bridges and underpass for smooth traffic flow is necessary. Why we have build world class Museum in Bangalore while the basis necessities of citizens are not in place. Mangaloreans it 's time to raise your voice for your rights. What people will do with world class museum while there is shortage of basic necessities. Don't understand the logic.

When the Mangalore roads were being concretised the drainage pipes laid in the 1960's were not replaced with bigger pipes. Today we see the manholes overflowing due to this. I wonder whether it was a must to replace the pipes in the contract. I wish for a comment from our MLA Mr. J.R.Lobo on this point.

Mrs Geeta, I totally agree with you. This was done with ADB loan during the BJP regime in Karnataka. Many BJP supporters were given contracts. But replacing the old drainage pipes with larger diameter must have been part of the contract. Mr.J.R.Lobo,MLA, should throw more light on this because he was MCC Commissioner at that time of planning and execution of the work.
