Udupi, Nov 8: Bolstered by the victory of the Grand Alliance of JD(U), RJD and Congress in Bihar elections, KPCC chief and state home minister Dr Parameshwar on Sunday November 8 said that the Bihar results reflect the one-and-a-half years of Narendra Modi-led NDA government.

Participating in a programme organized by Kaup block Congress committee (south) to celebrate the birth anniversary of Devraj Urs, Parameshwar said, "Narendra Modi has fooled the people with his speeches for the purpose of vote bank, and the Bihar election results reflect the one-and-a-half years of his government."

"During 2013 Congress had organized padayatra in three places in the state, and Ullal-Udupi padayatra was also one of them. A few people had told me not to hold the padayatra, and I had replied that once I take a decision, I do not change my mind. After the padayatra, people responded well and the state Assembly elections brought us victory," he said.

"Congress party is necessary to the country. Without Congress there can be no harmony, and without harmony there can be no peace. Equality, social justice, peaceful life and development form the ideology of the Congress, and even Pandit Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi thought on same lines. They sacrificed their lives for the nation. Is such peace present in the country now?" he questioned.

Slamming BJP-led NDA government, he said, "BJP is questioning everything - practice of faith, religion, food, and creating conflict among people of different religions and castes. Before Independence, the British had questioned Mahatma Gandhi if India would be able to safeguard its freedom. Today the BJP is proving the British rules true.

"After BJP coming to power, intolerance has increased in the country. Even after 130 years of Congress in this country, the party's ideologies and principles have not changed. In the next general elections Congress will win with majority and come to power again," he said.

"The dharma of Congress is to uplift the poor and socially oppressed classes. There should be strong harmony in Kaup constituency. In the next local body elections, the party workers should put full efforts and more women should come forward. There are about 60,000 booths and even if 20,000 have proper office-bearers, no one can shake Congress," he said.

He also said that anti-social elements would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against those who try to spoil peace and take law into their hands.

"Being the home minister, I have now got opportunity to go to people and win their hearts. People have given me power and I will do my work sincerely," he said.

District incharge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake lauding former MP J P Hegde said, "Now people have realized the sincere work of Jayaprakash Hegde. The present MP (Shobha Karandlaje) only gives assurances and visits her constituency only once a month. This shows Modi's leadership."

Commenting on Bihar election results, he said, "We are witnessing a change in the country."

Around 200 JD(S) workers including state secretary A K Sulaiman and Udupi district working president Ghulam Mohammed joined Congress on the occasion.

Byndoor MLA Gopal Poojary, J P Hegde, Gopal Bhandary, Ghafoor, Veronica Cornelio.and others were present.

Parameshwar later held a review meeting with officers of western range police. Thereafter, he visited the Congress office where he spoke to reporters.

He said that celebration of Tipu Sultan Jayanti was Karnataka government's decision. "There are people who are against celebration of Tipu Jayanti. Tipu was a patriot who fought for our independence and did good work for his religion and promoted peace," he said.

On the bribery allegations against minister Anjaneya's wife, he said, "I have discussed the matter with him. He will explain everything openly in a couple of days, and the chief minister will also look into it."

    When will they ever learn?
Dear Congress leaders of Karnataka. Please see the writing on the wall - if you cannot see then wipe your eyes ( introspect) and see again.

Congress in the present form in terms of organization and function - will not do well and for its long term survival needs to over haul their entire party. Get rid of colonialistic leadership structure and be more democratic within.

What are your economic progressive agenda formulas for the governance? Do not try to block passing of the bills aimed at progress just because they are mooted by BJP.

People will judge you both as a ruling party ( Karnataka) as well as an opposition in terms of promoting progress.

Please remember that mistakes of BJP and their divisiveness alone cannot be your qualification to get the right to rule!

Sad part is that in the verge of defeating Modi, some where we are handing over our country to one group which is having clear agenda of stopping developments in India. Looks public also joined the drive by winning this joint alliance party now, which includes Congress also which never thought about the country for decades... guys wake up wake up...

I am deeply pleased about the devastating defeat of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bihar. The results are a triumph for democracy. There is absolutely no doubt the election for control of Bihar was seen as a referendum on Narendra Modi´s popularity, and PM Modi had crisscrossed the state addressing dozens of high-profile rallies. After the defeat in Bihar it will getting much tougher for the Modi government to get key legislation passed, especially pertaining to economic reforms, because it does not have the majority in the indirectly elected upper house of parliament. India has often experienced personality-dominated polls in the past, the election in Bihar went beyond “name-calling or character assassination.” The results show clearly that this poll is seen as a sign that many in India do not accept a rising tide of religious intolerance and violence in India. India needs a strong opposition. The results are a blessing for India´s democracy, for a liberal, open and secular India.

    Best regards

BJP has proved worst than Congress. It does not mean that Congress was good. In communal harmony congress was better than BJP. In corruption both are same. Mainly corruption has to be stopped if the country has to develop.

Let there be a national celebration of freedom signals and hope for India.

The theocratic rule wrapped up in autocracy will not be tolerated in India.

Hindus-Muslims-Christians-Sikhs-Buddhists-Jains-Parsis and Bahai Faith must live together in peace.

The BJP used the great Hindu religion as a political spade card and reaping the consequences.

Parameshi..... You were booted by electorate of your own consistency, still all these years you were hungry for Dy. CM post!!
You will not go and live in Bihar nor we. Biharis will take care of their future.. though it can be another 'Jungle raaj"
But we are concerned about Jungle raaaj in Karnataka with sleeping Nidramayya, when ever open his mouth talks non-sense!
better to repair your party rather than sending 'hafta money' to Italian amma like Anjaneya and getting caught. Concentrate on your own work rather than performing "nataka"
