Mangaluru, Nov 11: St Joseph parishioners, Jeppu along with The Expressions Group, Udupi are gearing up for another awe-inspiring vocal music competition, which will bring together 28 talented contestants of both Mangaluru and Udupi dioceses and three distinguished judges for an evening of excitement and dazzling performances. One could witness the excitement rising at this year's Wilfy Rebimbus Memorial Inter-Diocese Contest during the first rehearsal of the grand finale which was held last week.

The grand finale of the inter-diocese singing competition in memory of Wilfy Rebimbus will be held at 5 pm on Sunday, November 15 at Jeppu Church grounds. The contestants will perform songs of the legend Wilfy Rebimbus as they compete for the prestigious Wilfy Rebimbus Memorial Trophy. The qualifying rounds were held in Udupi and Mangaluru in the month of October. The contest promises to be a tough battle between both the dioceses with the rendition of Wilfy’s best songs.

The compere for the evening will be Cyril Gregory Sequeira, popularly known as CGS Taccode. CGS is well-known for his satire and humour writing. He has written several stories, poems and humorous works. He is compering Wilfy Rebimbus Singing Competition for the fourth consecutive year and is a close associate of the Rebimbus family.

Speaking to daijiworld, Fr Nelson Dalmeida, parish priest, Jeppu said, "We are marching forward strongly and this year we have spread our wings to the Udupi diocese as a mark of tribute to our dear Wilfyaab during his 5th death anniversary year. We are happy to have The Expressions group from Udupi diocese who have joined us this year and organized the semi-finals in Udupi. As with previous competitions, we are confident that those who attend will have full entertainment and will be moved with not only the quality of the performances but as always the powerful lyrics and tunes composed by the legend. Along with my entire parish I am grateful to all those who have supported this great event from the last 4 years, the parish priests of all the parishes, the participants and most of all the wonderful audiences who have patted us on our back year after year and encouraged us to move ahead.

"The judgment will be based on the day’s performance of the singer and purely on their singing and performance. We have selected the best of the best judges who have been associated with Konkani music and Wilfy Rebimbus. Their experience in the music field is tremendous and surely the best singer and performer of the day will grab the title. We wish all the finalists every best in the grand finale," he added.
