Mangaluru, Dec 31: First ever special tahsildar of Mulky Nadakacheri, A G Kheni (59) breathed his last at a private hospital in the city on Wednesday December 30 morning.

Kheni had collapsed during lunch hours when going out of office on Monday December 28 afternoon due to exhaustion. He was admitted to hospital, where he was diagnosed with heart attack. He underwent angioplasty procedure at the hospital and seemed to be limping back to normal health.

He however complained of severe chest pain on Tuesday night, and lost his life due to brain hemorrhage on Wednesday morning. He was from Kheni near Ankola. He is survived by wife, two daughters, and a son.

A G Kheni had served revenue department in several capacities including tahsildar of Yallapur before being posted as the first special tahsildar of Nadakacheri at Mulky three years back. As special tahsildar here, he had striven to complete mini Vidhan Soudha cosntruction work at Mulky, which is set to be inaugurated on January 1.

MLA, Abhay Chandra Jain, praised Kheni as an officer driven by people-friendly nature, besides being an efficient administrator and simple person. Deputy commissioner of the district, A B Ibrahim, paid his last respects by visiting the hospital. A number of leading personalities including Harikrishna Punaroor have grieved his death. The body was taken to Ankola for funeral.
