Kasargod, Jan 5: “The attacks by terrorists in Pathankot show how weak PM Narendra Modi led BJP government is. It is not possible to maintain peace only by going to foreign countries”, said Kerala state Chief minister Oommen Chandy.

He was speaking after setting in motion Kerala Jana Raksha procession led by KPCC president M Suheeran at Kumble on Monday evening, January 4.

“The freedom to live in peace is being snatched away in the country. The attack by terrorists is shameful. Intolerance in the county is increasing. False cases are being filed against Congress leaders who are raising their voice against anti-people policies of the union government. The Modi government which has come to power after promising several things is fooling the people. Those who clapped when Congress lost the elections are now disappointed. BJP which had protested coming to the streets when the prices of petrol and diesel were increased, is increasing prices as it likes. It is looting the people.”

“The violent politics of BJP and CPM should go away. The statement by CPM Polit bureau that it is ready for discussion with leaders of Sangh pariwar to stop political violence in Kerala has given rise to suspicions. Congress welcomes discussion to stop violence. However if it is a ploy to get votes, the people will drive away CPM from Kerala”, said CM Chandy.

State home minister Ramesh Chennithala presided over the programme. AICC chief secretary Mukul Vasnik, Kerala sports minister Thiruvanjoor Radhakrishnan, A P Anil Kumar, V S Shivakumar, MP K C Venugopal, K C Joseph, K Babu, Karnataka minister of forests B Ramanath Rai, MLA V D Satheeshan, P C Vishnunath, KPCC vice president M M Hassan, T Siddik, Satheeshan Hacheni, K P Kunhikannan, Gangadhar Nair, Keshava Prasad Nanithilu, Tambanur Ravi, Halod Ravi, Harshad Verkadi, P P Thangachan, Laly Vincent, P C Chacko, Manjeshwar MLA P B Abdul Razak, MPs K Raghavan, Anto Antony, Dhanapalan, Sharath Chandra Prasad, Raj Mohan Unnithan, P Ramakrishnan and others were present.
