Kundapur, Jan 6: Kundapur police have detained five suspected criminals who were acting suspiciously after staying in a lodge on rent and subjected them to intense questioning.

The five youths had hired a room in a lodge in the heart of the city. The hotel owner and locals suspected the behaviour of the youths.

Their lavish spending was the reason for the suspicions. After taking the room on rent, they had spent more than anybody usually spends on liquor and food. They had also not gone out anywhere. There were rumours that another group of fifteen youths were to come to Kundapur and join them.

On receiving information about their suspicious behaviour, the police started to keep a watch on them. Though nobody else joined them, the police raided the room of the youths to prevent them from escaping. The onlookers said that one of them tried to flee but was caught by the police.

It is said that the youths from Bengaluru origin have criminal background. As several cases are registered against them in police stations in Bengaluru, the police are collecting information of those cases, as per sources.
