Lokayukta appointment- confusion yet to be cleared

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (RJP)

Bengaluru, Jan 7: When there were indications that there would not be any more debate on the appointment of Lokayukta and the vacancy will be filled this week, confusion has erupted again.

There are two names doing the rounds presently. They are Justice S R Nayak and Justice Vikramjith Sen. Out of the two, whose name would be finally recommended, is yet to be known due to the confusions and differences.
The chief minister is of the opinion that Nayak should be made the Lokayukta. But the opposition BJP has opposed Nayak's name. It has said that Nayak has two complaints against him.

The Lokayukta appointment committee comprising high court judge, legislative council speaker, opposition leaders from both houses, have preferred to recommend Vikramjith Sen. The assembly speaker has preferred Nayak.

But the government is worried that if Nayak’s name is recommended and if the governor does not approve the name, it will face the embarrassment.
