Udupi, Jan 7: An interaction programme - 2016 organized by the Zilla Varthakara Hitarakshana Vedike was held at Durga International auditorium, on Tuesday January 5.








ASP Santosh Kumar inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp.

In his address he said, "Protests occur due to problems of the merchants’. If there is unity among them, there will be no problem. People have now forgotten the value - unity is strength."

He also added that bandhs, protests affect traders' regular business. Merchants have no security, face labour problems, shortage of coins, threats, rowdyism, cheating and thefts.

He further said the city has no strict traffic rules. Parents should instil them in their children from childhood. Only then it is possible to bring about a change in the country.

Vishwanath Nayak, RTO officer said, "The RTO department has severe shortage of required staff. Due to this they suffer during regular vehicle checking. Right now there are only four officials working at the traffic department even though traffic is high."

He questioned the need for conducting a bike rally during programmes. Drivers of vehicles have less patience than commuters. There is need to create awareness among bus drivers, conductors about driving rules.

During this interaction session, citizens complaints about vehicle speed, parking negligence, bus platform and so on were addressed.

M Narendra Pai, presided over the program and extended the welcome note.

Dolphy Victor Lewis, founder president, S P Surendrappa, deputy transport minister and senior regional transport commissioner, Udupi and others were present.
