Uroos of Ullal Thangal to be held from Jan 11 to 13

Mangaluru, Jan 8: "The second Uroos of Qazi of Ullal late Assayyid Abdul Rahman Al-Bukhari will be held in Yettikulam of Kerala from January 11 to 13", said Haji US Hamza, the president of Ullal Darga.


Addressing the media persons in the city, he said that on January 11 the Dakshina Kannada Samyukta Jama- will hold the Sandal procession at 8 am while the Uroos will be inaugurated by KS Aatakkoya Tangal Kumbol, an eminent scholar.

The president of the Uroos welcome committee S M Rasheed, Haji Haider Parthippady, Mumtaz Ali Krishnapura were present.

Born in the year 1920 in Kerala, he was a well-known religious leader of the Muslim Sunni community, and was affectionately called 'Ullal Thangal'. He was the president of Jamia Sa-adiya Arabic College, All-Kerala Sunni Jam-iyyathul Ulema and advisor of Markaz Saqafathssunniya and All India Sunni Jam-iyyathul Ulema. He also served as Qazi in a number of places in Karnataka and Kerala.

He assumed charge as the principal of Seyyid Madani Arabic College, Ullal in the year 1971 and became the Qazi of Ullal on November 9, 1978 and passed away on February 1, 2014.
