Bengaluru, Jan 11: The Alumni of St Joseph’s Indian Educational Institutions, who were part of the post-centenary decennial celebrations of their alma mater, honoured 17 retired staff and four former Principals who served the Institution by presenting a cheque of Rs. 1,10,000/- each .

T V Mohan Das Pai and Brijesh Kallappa the Alumni of the school, shared the sweet memories of their school days, when over 1500 alumni took part in the gala celebrations on Sunday.

The Alumni Meet began with a prayer service conducted by Ms Manjula, the High school Counsellor. As a mark of respect a minute silence was maintained for the departed souls, who served the institution. 

Rev. Fr. Sunith Prabhu, SJ, Convener of the Alumni Meet and the former Head Master of St. Joseph’s Indian High School, welcomed the gathering. Rev Dr. Jerome Stanislaus D’Souza, SJ, Provincial of Karnataka Jesuit Province and Fr. Anil D’Mello, SJ, the Rector of Institution addressed the Meet. The Programme ended with vote of thanks proposed by Rex, the Alumnus, while Bosco Abhram, the Alumnus and the former Vice President of PTA, compered the entire show.  

In the morning, Rev. Dr. Francis Serrao, SJ, Bishop of Shivamogga Diocese, was the main celebrant in the solemn Eucharistic thanksgiving mass.

The Bishop, in his homily, spoke of Jesus’ baptism and the Jesuit education of forming men and women for others. He called upon every Josephite to be a fire that enkindles other fire in making this world a better place to live in. 

The management felicitated the Bishop and expressed their deep appreciation for his presence and blessings. Br. Joel Fernandes SJ proposed the vote of thanks.
