Udupi, Jan 14: The SP of Udupi, held a Press meeting at Udupi on January 13 to brief the media about Security arrangements during the Paryaya festival being held at Udupi Sri Krishna mutt on January 17 and 18. He gave the following details during the meeting.

A large number of VIPs and lacs of devotees will be visiting Udupi for the Paryaya festival. More than ten tableaus, more than 74 groups of artistes, pandals of ten mutt seers and lacs of people will be participating in the procession. Suitable security arrangements are made to keep a watch on chain snatchers, pick pocketers and
miscreants.

The security is assigned to 2 SPs, 5 DySPs, 16 CPIs, 2 RPIs, 45 PSIs, 110 ASIs, 780 HC/PCs, 96 women’s police staff, 284 home guards, 6 KSRP divisions and 6 DAR divisions.

Temporary Check posts will function in six different places for all the 24 hours of the day to check vehicles.

A Police outpost is opened in Car street to provide security and information to devotees. District control room numbers are 100 and 0820-2526444. Udupi town Police station number is 0820-2520444.

22 Different places are identified for alternative parking arrangements for Paryaya.

Separate roads are identified for vehicles arriving and departing between 9 am on January 17 and 9 am on January 18 to make Car street free from traffic.

The Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district has banned the sale of liquor in Udupi from January 16 midnight till January 18 midnight.

Separate transport facilities are arranged for senior citizens and physically challenged arriving to the temple and the programme.

The people, office bearers and members of self-help groups, office bearers and members of cooperative societies, government and semi government employees are requested to cooperate with the police so that the programme may proceed smoothly.
