Mangaluru, Jan 14: The kite festival organized by Rotary Club of the city's Rotary Club Zone IV in association with Team Mangaluru will dazzle the skies, here on January 16 and 17.

This will be the 5th international kite festival to be held here. FESTWAI- kite flying starts at 2.30 pm on January 16. There will be no entry fee, formalities and speeches. Only the thrill of flying. The flag kite festival will be launched on Saturday January 16 at 2.30 pm. The next day, the event will begin at 2.30 pm and end at 7 pm. The two days post noon festival concludes with an informal valedictory function at 7.00 pm on the evening of January 17, after a brief stage function to felicitate the participating kite flyers.

The kite festival is an event to facilitate mass participation. It is an opportunity to feel the thrill of the kite line on the fingers. Watch the countless kites of various colors, sizes and shapes from the shore fluttering on the horizon of Panambur Beach, as they almost shape into a rainbow in the background of the setting sun.

Bring along a kite and join in the fun of flying it with others. The festival holds no competition, or prizes to be won, but the thrill of kite flying. This year's episode holds lot more excitement as flyers from UK, Australia, Netherlands, Kuwait, Cambodia, Turkey, Thailand, France, Ukraine, Italy, Germany, Nigeria and Singapore have already confirmed their participation. Teams from Maharashtra, Hyderabad and our own state will also participate.

The convener of the festival Elias Sanctis has requested the kite lovers to participate in great numbers.
