Bantwal, Jan 15: Policemen from Pujalkatte station raided an illegal slaughterhouse being run in an areca nut plantation at Aroddu in Tenkakajekaru village. During the raid, three persons were arrested, while two others managed to escape, police personnel said.

The areca nut plantation in question belongs to a local farmer named Abdul Aziz. The police, after getting reliable information about a slaughterhouse being run there, raided the place under the leadership of sub-inspector, Latesh Kumar.

During the raid, the police personnel found that a cattle had been slaughtered. The policemen took into possession about 50 kg meat from the spot, hatchet, and some other items. Three persons, Abdul Aziz, Muhammed Mustafa, and Abdul Kunhi, were arrested. Nassir and Farooq fled from the spot during the raid and managed to remain elusive.

The arrested accused were produced in JMFC court here. Investigation is continuing.
