M'luru: MP Nalin inaugurates ‘Junior Olympics’ at Mangala stadium

Mangaluru, Jan 15: The Member of Parliament of Mangaluru constituency, Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated the two-day district level athletics meet ‘Junior Olympics’ at Mangala stadium, on Friday January 15.

In his inaugural address, MP Nalin Kumar said, “Our district has given various athletes to the country. Many of them have achieved name and fame at national and international levels. I wish many more athletes from this meet to rise up to the international standards and make our flag fly higher.”

MLA of Mangaluru South constituency, JR Lobo also addressed the gathered and said, “When it comes to Olympics, we have very less athletes winning the medals for India. But the time has changed and more emphasis has been given for sport activities now. I wish that this meet becomes a platform to pick young talents for India”.

The district level Junior Olympics for the high school children will conclude on Saturday January 16. 

It has been organized by Kreeda Bharathi in association with high school teachers association and department of sports and youth empowerment.

Former minister Nagaraj Shetty, former MP Tejaswini Gowda, MLC Ganesh Karnik, deputy director of education department Walter D'Mello and chairman of Shreedevi Institutions Sadananda Shetty were present.
