Kundapur: Speeding Scorpio vehicle hits bicycle, kills rider

Kundapur, Jan 22: A speeding Scorpio hit a bicycle while it was crossing the road at Gopadi on National Highway 66 on Thursday January 21 late at night. The bicycle rider who was seriously injured succumbed on the way to hospital. The bicycle rider is identified as a DSS activist, daily wage worker Lokanatha (58).


Lokanatha had been to a nearby temple. The accident occurred on his return home. The Scorpio was plying from Udupi to Kundapur. Lokanath was thrown onto the road due to the impact. He was initially rushed to N R Acharya hospital at Koteshwara and then to Manipal hospital. He died on the way to Manipal hospital.

The deceased has left behind his wife and two male children. The dead body is kept at Kundapur government hospital morgue. A police case is registered at the traffic police station.
