Puttur, Jan 25: A person got bitten by a venomous snake during his visit to the place of his in-laws, and succumbed to snakebite on the night of Saturday January 23. The deceased was Puneet (30), a young entrepreneur at Kumbra, who was the son of Narayan Poojary from Shekamale in Ariyadka village in the taluk.

On Saturday, Narayan had been to the home of his wife at Kakkepadavu along with his wife. He had recently been on Tirupati Tirumala pilgrimage, and wanted to share the Prasadam he had brought from there with his relatives at Kakkepadavu. At around 8 pm that day, he visited the toilet located outside the house of his in-laws. After finding out that a bulb fitted outside was not burning, he replaced the bulb and was walking towards the toilet, when a snake bit him in the leg.

Puneet did not think too much about this bite. But the snake bit him a second time, at which he collapsed to the ground. He was immediately taken to the hospital in the town, but he passed away on the way.

Puneet was a popular entrepreneur at Kumbra, and was involved with various social service initiatives. He had married about 30 months back.
