Mangaluru, Feb 22: "There is God within every person. Our religious customs and observations will be meaningful only when we respect one another and live in harmony," said J R Lobo the MLA of Mangaluru South constituency.

Lobo was speaking as a chief guest on the occasion of the foundation stone laying ceremony for community hall to be built by Dharmashastha Mandira Trust and a religious harmony programme titled 'Dharmashastha Souhardha Sangama'.

Foundation laying and inauguration of the programmes was done by Narayana Bhat from Balambhat dynasty and Kunjira Guruswamy from Charmadi.

Lobo congratulated the organisers on conducting the religious harmony programme along with the foundation laying ceremony and using the opportunity in uniting people from different religions.

MLC Ivan D’Souza who was also the guest of honour said that only through religious harmony can a society really prosper.

Rafiq Saab who represented Vishwas Bawa Builders said that people should shed the notions of distrust among themselves and should work to build bridges between communities.

Former corporator and entrepreneur Jayaprakash said that Souhardha Sangama is a model to the society.

On the occasion, Dharmashastha Mandira Trust distributed two wheelchairs and prosthetic legs to needy persons including children.

Alban Menezes, Elias Fernandes, Bhaskar K Hemalatha Raghu Salian, Dayananda G Kathalsar and the president of the programme Mijarguthu Manjunatha Rai spoke on the occasion and wished the organisers.

Advocate Ramprasad the president of the trust welcomed the gathering.

Krishnappa Tailor, Mahalingeshwara Bhat Girishkuma r M Neetha Ashok, Raghuram Amin, Shashikala Balan, Jagadish Jyothinagara and Srinivasa S were also present during the programme.
