Mangaluru: ZP, TP results indication of Congress victory in next Assembly polls: Poojary

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Feb 24: "The results of zilla panchayat (ZP) and taluk panchayat (TP) elections are an indication that Congress government will come to power again in the next Assembly elections," said senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary.

Addressing a press meet at the district Congress office here on Wednesday February 24, Poojary said, "Congress won ten ZPs this time. In 2010, the party had won only four ZPs, so this time we won six more than last time. In contrast, BJP won 12 ZPs in 2010, but this time it could win only seven, so it has lost five. JD(S) won four ZPs in 2010, but this time it won only two.

"This proves the good leadership of the Congress government. Even in taluk panchayat elections, Congress won 61 taluks, whereas last time the number was 31. BJP has won 56 this time, but last time it won 68, so it lost 12. It clearly shows Congress will come to power in the next Assembly elections," he added.

On Congress performing poorly in chief minister Siddarmaiah's home district Mysuru, he said, "The chief minister and BJP's Prahlad Joshi and Jagadish Shettar did not do enough campaigning in their own constituencies, which led to poor performance of their parties. The CM has to look after the entire state, so it cannot be termed as an insult to these leaders.

"The Congress workers should not become overconfident because of these results because then it will be tough for the party. Do more development works and solve serious problems. This is a lesson to the Congress as well as the BJP," he advised.

"Even in Dakshina Kannada, Congress performed better than last, but could not come to power in both ZPs and TPs. Though there are seven MLAs from Congress in the district, they have failed to sit together and discuss the development of the region and there is no coordination between them. Even in the entire Karnataka, in-charge ministers worked in their own ways. The ministers and MLAs should hold a meeting to discuss development works," Poojary said.

In a veiled reference to district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, he said, "Some in-charge ministers have been concentrating on their own constituency and giving less importance to the rest of the district. If this continues people will not forgive you. The results in Sullia are very bad for Congress. Ministers and MLAs should solve the problems of the people."

Addressing himself to Congress MLAs and ministers without naming anyone, he said, "Have you solved the problems of 9,11 forms, Kumki rights and Yettinahole? Have you responded to these issues? Do you want people to protest over these? Still we have not learnt our lesson. Do you think we should give assurances to people only in manifesto?"

He then addressed the chief minister and said, "Why can't you ask your ministers to go to the people and work for development? You have given a good budget and you are doing such good work. Support the party workers. What have you done for party workers? If there are no party workers there will be no results."

Lashing out at PM Narendra Modi next, he said, "PM Modi has failed to fulfil the promises he made to people. In two years he has not solved their problems. In Delhi, law and order has deteriorated. The Patels who are demanding reservation in Gujarat are saying that Godhra incident was planned by the Sangh Parivar and it was a strategy to bring Modi to power. What does PM have to say on this?

"Today you (Modi) have called your party leaders and asked them to give aggressive answers to the opposition in the Parliament during the upcoming budget session. Why can't you accept a solution given by the Congress and Rahul Gandhi on GST bill?"

On whether his frequent press meets and statements on the chief minister's expensive watch and other issues had not led to Congress debacle, Poojary said, "I held press meets to save the party. There are no internal differences in the party, or else the party would have died. I want to save the party. Even the CM's close associates agreed to auction the watch, if not, the party would have slipped in the entire state. Living a luxurious life is not essential. We are not questioning anyone's personal life, but the issue is not personal when the person is in public life."

Former mayor Mahabala Maarla and others were present.

    1) Mohan Bhagavats call given in Indore on Monday that all women should confine themselves to their houses and serve only their husband's family and should not go for any work outside including Politics (in that case all women members of ZP/TP elected from BJP have to resign immediately).'

Congress lost at least 20% of votes in DK and Udupi due to last 4-5 negative press conferences about congress issues in public. More than saving the congress party, he want show off his visibility and power in public without any proper position in that party.

Dont take it for granted about this ZP, TP results. There may be lot of changes during next election. The Congress party has to strive hard and pay more attention to developmental activities that too within a stipulated time. If you win the heart of the people definitely your thinking and forecasting about next election will become true. Dont boast about this now. Be practical and ask other party leaders and workers to be practical.

Dear Poojariji, your analysis is fake and calculation is vague.I do agree your points that there is no co-ordination between seven MLAs and ministers and definitely there is a internal bickering and differences among them. This is due to wrong policy adopted by your high command while allotting tickets to the deserving candidates.Don't dream about congress coming back to the power once again in the forthcoming election.DK/Udupi is completely manned by BJP and under the stronghold of BJP.With regard to our PM Narendra Modi's development programme as promised in the last electoral manifesto,he has done maximum to the country in his capacity as PM within short period of two years. No past PMs have done within that short period.I am asking you, what your party has done during 67 years of rule, only scams after scams, looting the country and amassing wealth and parking black money in swiss bank.Law and order in the country is better than when your party was in the power barring few incidents.Even during your rule for the past 67 years law and order was deteriorated to the maximum level, you didn't utter a single word about that.Your press meet is limited to only one sided and biased just to come you to spotlight/limelight.Wah!! Wah!! Poojariji, appreciated you.Why can't you try for CM post next time? You are able and fit but for nothing.Only for calling press meet. Not for the development of the public.I would suggest you to better retire from the politics and go TAPASYAM (Penance). This would suit you better.Best luck for next time

Dear Mr. Poojary, we think you should get a eye check up, change your glasses, then you will get the clear picture about ZP, TP results under CM Siddu's congress rule.

Yes Congress has got more seats than BJP, last time Congress was in opposition, so they fared badly, but this time they are ruling, with all those Bhagya's, using money power & muscle power they should have bagged more than 20 ZP & more than 90 odd TP's, but they have just got 11ZP & 61 TP's, which is below average. Not good enough.

This election gives clear indication about peoples mood for up coming assembly elections in yr 2018, and you expect congress to come back to power, assembly election is different kettle of fish, there are many fence sitter waiting to jump to other parties, opposition BJP will definitely elect BS Yedurappa as party president, they will do all the ground work, and will be more competitive than before, and it will be tough going for congress.

Udupi & DK is gone case, congress will be wiped out, there is no hope, even after having 3 ministers and several MLA's they couldn't even do well in ZP, TP poll, what to expect in assembly poll?

It is better they name you as a CM candidate for yr 2018 assembly poll, then hopefully there is some hope for congress in DK & Udupi.

Get real Mr. Poojary, time to retire than speak nonsense.

If you count the total votes that BJP and Congress has earned in the D.K Zilla & Taluk Panchayat.
BJP is just ahead 9000 odd mere votes from Congress in both categories(Zilla and Taluk).
Under D.K Zilla Panchayat, Total votes in favour of BJP 348056
    Whereas for INC 339152.
The Case is same for Taluk Panchayat too.
INC has garnered more votes when compared to the previous elections in D.K.
Due to SDPI, INC lost some votes. And to make it clear, You clearly know that who holds upper hand in Mangalore Town Municipal and City Municipal/ Corporation.

Million $ question..But, Assmebly election is different from ZP/Taluk election...There is a big difference between T/20 & ODI match..

Note|: Congress was bowling full toss and overpitch balls..but BJP batsmen did not make use of it..they were playing defensive game..No one showed guts to go out from crease and smash it..They forgot that Wicket keeper Siddu was sleeping !!
