Kolar, Feb 25: A 13-year-old girl administered injections to 12 children 'for fun' at Nakkalagudda village in Srinivasapura taluk of the district using a discarded syringe. This gave rise to panic among the parents of these children, who rushed the children to hospital. The children are said to be hale and healthy now, and not displaying any adverse symptoms of the said act.

The incident, which occurred on Monday evening, came to be known after a delay of two days. Shylaja, an eighth standard student of the government high school at Gounipalli village, was the one who injected the children. When playing in open field on Monday evening with 12 children, she began to mimic hospital scene by donning the role of doctor. Treating the other children as patients, she filled water in a discarded injection syringe, and injected it among all the children.

A woman who noticed this, intervened and dispersed the children. As a measure of precaution, the children were admitted to Jalappa Hospital in the town, where first aid was administered and the children were kept on watch.

District health officer visited the hospital, checked the records, and spoke to the children. He said that the children have not developed any side affects of the injection and that they are doing fine.
